Yesterday I when tracking with Röskva. I have not been tracking with her for few months now because of weather and other things. There is a tracking test in the middle of may and I wanted to see if she remembered what to do, how to do it and how much she remembered.
And boy.. she had not forgotten anything! First I had one 100 meters long and 10 min. old track with one end part. When I put the line on her harness she know exactly what she was going to do and I needed to hold on tight to the line.
The second track was almost 300 meters long, 30 min. old, with two objects in the middle of the track and one end-part. When the track was about 25 min old a dog came running through the hole track, of course leaving a lot of smell and as we found later a nice fresh pile of shit!! near the end of the track. But I decided to take the change and see what she would do. Well she stared tracking really nice, at the first turn she got a little confused, because that is were the dog ran out of the track, but she found the right track all on her own. When she was out of the first corner I saw 3 horses come running toward us. Röskva saw them also but didn't let that bother her at all. When there was about 50m. left of the track she started to put her head up and looked around. Then a straight line out of the track and found a big pile of freshly pupped dog shit! She looked at me like "Why is THAT here!" and then got back on the track and finished.
When I took her out of the harness she kept on tracking and track my way back to the car.
Her only problem are her markings. She dose not mark well. She act like she dose'n have the time to mark. She sees the objects but walk right over them just to finish the track. So now my goal is to get her to mark. And hopefully she will bee ready for the tracking test in middle of may :D
